Gay Hawkes

Gay Hawkes works in a boatshed on the sea at Dunalley, Tasmania. Visits by appointment. During the summer she runs woodwork classes, including “The Dunalley Children’s Chair Factory”. During the winter she works interstate from her “Roving Shed”. In 2008 she was a finalist in the Australian Inspirational Teachers’ awards. Hawkes’ sculpture and furniture is represented in the Australian National Gallery, War Memorial and Parliament House, Canberra, state collections and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney.
